Reflections of the Life of
Annie Laura Robinson Bee

Annie Laura Robinson-Bee was the 7th child of Rafe and Exie Robinson. Annie AKA ( Ann ) was born May 7, 1951. She attended Sumner Hill
School, but, after integration occurred, Ann and two of her friends went to Summer School at Clinton High School and she became the first of
Rafe and Exie's children to make history by graduating from the then all-white school. They had racial slurs said to them on many occasions and had rotten eggs thrown at them, but they didn't give up and stayed there and got their high school diploma. They demonstrated great courage.

Ann started working at an early age, earlier than any of her other siblings. By picking Black Berries and taking them to Mrs. Barnes house, only getting paid 25 cents. She then worked at an Egg Company in Edwards, Mississippi cracking eggs. She attended Jackson State University for a year. She bought a car and she and two of her friend girls drove from Clinton, Mississippi to Los Angeles, California in search of a better life and more opportunity.

Annie is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Bee; her parents, Rafe Robinson and Exie Jackson; and a brother, Tony Russell, Sr.

She enrolled in California School of Nursing in Inglewood, California. While living in California, Ann worked at the Centinela Hospital and
Medical Center in Inglewood, California. Two of her most famous patients she cared for were singers Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye.
Ann returned home to take care of her mother during her illness. Ann was employed at the VA Medical Center for 27 years, where she achieved many awards and honors. She retired from the VA Medical Center in 2005. While employed at the VA Medical Center, she met Kenneth C. Bee who turned out to be the love of her life. Kenneth was a great husband and father to Ann 's two children. Ann leaves to cherish her precious memories: two children, daughter, Exie M. Williams of Terry, Mississippi and son, Rafe Kelvin Rass Williams, (Rhoincia Clark-Williams) of Clinton, Mississippi; grandchildren, Rafael Williams, Ragan Williams, Raileeya Williams, Rihanna Williams and Royce Williams; sisters, Virginia Thompson, Gladys Griffith, Amy Frelix, Clotie Graves and Edith Guston; brother, Freddie Robinson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
