Mrs. Annie R. Mickel

Sunrise came to Annie Ruth Honer on June 26, 1943, through the parentage of the late Sarah Lewis Honer and Vernon Jones in Rankin County. Annie was the oldest of seven children. She was preceded in death by one sister, Earleen Myers.

Sunset came to Annie Mickel on March 18, 2025, at her home, where she was surrounded by her family.

She matriculated through school in the Jackson Public School System. After finishing school, she met the love of her life, Mr. Henry Mickel, Jr. They wed on June 16, 1963. To this union of 61 years, two children were born: Christie Reneise Mickel and Christopher Henry Mickel.

In 1965, they moved to East Orange, NJ, where she worked as a master tailoress. She later moved back to Jackson in 1976. In 1979, she began working for Gayfers Department Store, where she served as a tailoress for men's and women's apparel for twenty years. Upon her retirement in 1999, she worked various jobs, with her most enjoyable and rewarding role being with the Foster Grandparents Organization, where she worked with young children.

Having accepted Christ at an early age and establishing her home and family life in Jackson, MS, she became a member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ Holiness, USA.

There, she served as a choir member, children's Sunday School teacher, member of the CWWW, and assistant church secretary for many years. When Mt. Olive Church merged with Mt. Zion Church of Christ Holiness, USA in 2022, she received the right hand of fellowship. Due to health challenges, she was no longer able to attend services in person but enjoyed receiving the Word through social media.

Annie Mickel will be cherished by her husband, Henry; her children, Christie and Christopher (Wendy) of Jackson, MS; three sisters, Christine Williams of Los Angeles, CA, Dessie Solomon (Henry), and Cynthia Hall (George) of Jackson, MS; two brothers, Ervin Honer, Jr. (Rosie) of Jackson, MS, and Lewis Honer (Rene) of Los Angeles, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
