Anthony Marquis Roy was born on January 14, 1986, to Josie Roy and the late Anthony Roy. He was the youngest of four  children. Marquis, as he was lovingly called by many, excepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at China Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, under the leadership of Reverend L.B. Shelby. Marquis was educated in the Jackson Public School System and a graduate of Callaway High School in 2004.

Starting as a young adult, Marquis was very diversified in his work experiences. He loved his work in retail as an assistant produce manager. He enjoyed his jobs and with his infectious smile, everyone who came into contact with him loved him. Marquis had a love for football and was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. He also loved life, but most of all, he loved family; especially his mother, stepfather, grandmother, nieces and
nephews.

Preceding him in death are: father, Anthony Roy; Grandmother Bessie Finch; grandfathers, Weaks Roy, Jr. and Joseph Gross; sister, LaQuita Roy; and two uncles, Levey Brown and Dannie Brown. Marquis leaves to cherish his memories: a loving mother, Josie Wells and stepfather, Lewis Wells; grandmother, Ann Elizabeth Roy; two sisters, LaToya Roy of Houston, Texas and Cassandra Baker of Jackson, Mississippi; one brother, Lorenzo Brown of Jackson, Mississippi; five aunts, Lula (Robert) Hops, Mildred (Larry) Singletary, Teecola Kendrick, Vicky (Bennie)
Patterson and Rosalind Roy; five uncles, Estell Brown, Otis Brown, Jimmie Finch, Eddie Finch and Henry Brown, all of Jackson, Mississippi; a host of nieces and nephews, and a very special friend, Monique Turner.
