Betty Mae Selvy-Allen was born on September 11, 1957, to Katie Selvy and the late Luther Selvy, Sr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi. She accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend F. P. Shorts. She departed this life on Friday, June 3, 2022. Betty was an active choir member at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and the Warren County Inspirational Choir. She always enjoyed being around her family, socializing, and sitting at the table playing games on her phone, drinking her Coco-cola. Betty worked at Cooper Lighting over 20 years. She graduated from Warren Central High School. Betty was preceded in death by: her father, Luther Selvy, Sr.; grandmothers, Laura Warren and Minnie Wilson; her sister, Rose "Sister " Shelby; brother -in-law, Hal Walker; and niece, Angela "Doc " Adams. She leaves her love, cherished memories and to carry on, her husband, John Allen, Jr.; mother, Katie Selvy; three children, Alicia Selvy of Champaign, Illinois, Mentha Allen of Edwards, Mississippi, and Brittany Allen of Jackson, Mississippi; one step -daughter, Breanda Williams; seven grandchildren, Mario Upshaw, Jr., Keyonna Allen, Kaniya Allen, Anilah Barren, Jakinsley Williams, Kennedi Williams and M'Kenzi Williams; eight sisters, Mary Wilson (Robert), Minnie Selvy, Laura Coleman, Algina Selvy, Katie R. Selvy, Mattie Selvy, Monica Walker and Willia Selvy; three brothers, Henry Selvy (Carrie), Luther Selvy and Willie B. Selvy; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
