Clarence was born to the late Peyton Gaddis, Sr. and Bertha Dixon Gaddis on September 19, 1948 in Hinds County. He was the ninth of fifteen children. He is survived by eight siblings: Leola Mounger, Bolton, Mississippi, Elnora Cleveland, Tennessee, Lucy Johnson, Edwards, Mississippi, Etha (Mead) McMillian, Edwards, Mississippi, Lavern Garner, Jackson, Mississippi, Cornelius (Ed) Gaddis, Bolton, Mississippi, Leroy Gaddis (Elaine), Edwards, Mississippi, and Robert Gaddis, New Orleans, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Rosie Mae Hutchins; brothers, Peyton (June) Gaddis, Jr., Henry Gaddis, Sr., Berthard Gaddis, Arthur (Lee) Gaddis and Elex (Jessie) Gaddis.

Clarence was a very independent hard worker, skilled in many trades: bridge work, mechanic, concrete work, bulldozers, etc. (Jack of all trades), wood hauler, Logger, carpentry, roofing, cooking, gardening, painting, and helping his father, Peyton, on the farm. The list goes on. Also, he was
always there to dig many of the graves where he himself will now be laid to rest. Clarence was not a man of the bible, but he listened to the messages from the bible. He showed his Christianity in his actions, emphasizing the need to be kind, show respect to your parents and not
give [an eye for an eye]. He had a hard time understanding why people do what they do. Yet, at times he proved to be a man of knowledge by restraining his words, being a discerning man, remaining calm. Proverbs 17:27 He was determined to work hard helping whoever he could in the
family, community, and wherever the need was. If he could help, it was with a willing spirit. Clarence was married, and to Gloria Bradley and to that union two children were born, Lisa Gaddis Gilmer (Craig) of Raymond, Mississippi and Racquel Gaddis (Tyrone Powell) of Pearl, Mississippi.
He was blessed with four grandchildren, Christy, Ziember, Laci and Peyton-Clarence. He enjoyed his time with them, sharing his knowledge about many, many things. They will miss him dearly and his wise words, "Save your money, don't spend it all."
