Brother Conel Harvey was born into a loving Christian home to Mr. Ambrose Harvey and Mrs. Ledora Thomas-Harvey in Port Gibson, Mississippi. Brother Harvey's parents and his brother, Mr. Robert Lee Harvey, preceded him in death.

Brother Conel Harvey grew up in Port Gibson, Mississippi, Claiborne County and attended Richardson Primary School, Addison Jr. High School and Port Gibson High School, class of 1975.

He joined Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 9 years old and was baptized under the leadership of the late Pastor L. E. McDaniel. He was a member of the youth choir, Sunday School and very active throughout the church.

After graduating from Port Gibson High School with the class of 1975, Conel moved to Jackson, Mississippi where he attended Hinds Jr. College in Raymond, Mississippi. There he studied in the vocational field. He received his diploma in 1977.

Brother Harvey worked for numerous mechanic shops: Herrin Gear, Woolco, Goodyear, Jackson Public School Transportation as a bus driver and mechanic for the JPS buses for several years. He also worked for JATRAN as a diesel mechanic for over 30 years. He retired from JATRAN in February 2022.

In December of 1981, Brother Conel Harvey married Sister Bobbie Hutton. To their union two children were born, Candace Harvey and Mychayla Harvey.

Brother Harvey was an exceptional father, grandfather, brother, brother-in law and mechanic. He loved, cherished and was devoted to his family and friends.

Within the city of Jackson, Mississippi, Brother Conel served the city by keeping the city buses (JATRAN) and Jackson Public School Transportation (south), buses running and functioning properly. He was one of the best mechanics for our city of Jackson, Mississippi and JPS (south) school buses.  He was very gifted with his hands and with his work.

On June 16, 2022, Brother Harvey went home to be with the Lord and Savior after a season spent at the UMMC in Jackson, Mississippi.

Cherishing his memory and continuing his legacy are: his daughters, Candace Harvey, Jackson, Mississippi and Mychayla Harvey, Lewisville, Texas; four sisters, Maxine (Harold) Jackson, South Lyon, Michigan; Nadine (John) Banks, Jackson, Mississippi; Brenda Harvey Brinson, Brandon, Mississippi and Azlee (Tommy Lee) Smith-Holliday, Jackson, Mississippi; three grandchildren,

Kevin Clay, Rushoderick Williams and Kirsten Washington; his loyal dog, Asia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
