David Cottrell was born July 22, 1934, to the late Maggie and Allen Cottrell, Sr. and went home to be with his Lord on May 24, 2022. David joined Shady Grove at an early age under the leadership of Reverend L. L. Robinson. He also attended alternate Sundays with his wife at Mt. Zion Baptist Church He worked in the road construction industry. David married the late Joe Mina Chaffin in 1963. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Minnie Pace Wells and David (Lillie) Chaffin; four remaining brothers – Daniel Cottrell, Aaron Cottrell, Moses (Ruth) Cottrell, and Robert Cottrell; two sisters in-law, Emma Mae Chaffin and Patricia Chaffin; a brother in-law, Clarence (Hazel) Chaffin; seven grandchildren, Gloria Nichols, Lisa (Rickey) Pace Stuckey, Joseph Pace, Latoya Alexander, Sabrina Thompson, Jamie Alexander, and Kendrick Alexander; eleven great-grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in the Flora, Pocahontas and Jackson Mississippi areas.
