Obituary

Born on May 28, 1942, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. From 1965-1979, she along with her five children resided in New Orleans, Louisiana where she worked various jobs to support her family. From there, she relocated to Jackson , Mississippi where she called it home for over two decades. This is where she turned her life over to Jesus Christ and began to build a solid foundation of friends and family who till this day are deeply valued . Her professional background was working in hospitality providing service in the hotel and hospital industry . She retired from St. Dominic Hospital after 12 years of service in both the Dietary and Environmental Services Departments where she received an "Employee of the Month" Award for her outstanding dedication and work ethics. In 2000, she relocated to Virginia . This time to live with her grandson, at his request . This is where she developed a serious medical condition called "spoiled rotten". Over the years, her condition would worsen leading to no chance of recovery. Melvin and Maw-Maw were inseparable, and they called themselves "road dogs". They stayed in Virginia until 2012 before finally settling down in Florida. She has resided in Florida up until her passing. Mrs. Ford was a resident of Isle Health Care and Rehabilitation Center for the past four years until her passing at Haven Hospice Center . Mrs. Ford is remembered for her kindness, generous nature, storytelling, and her "motherwith". Throughout her life, she was always caring for children. She has raised three sets of children and has been a mother to many children that she babysat through the years. The family has honored her wishes today and returned her body to her favorite place where she found Jesus and to the church she called, "her Church Home" to be remembered by the people that truly loved her and her family. Florence is a mother of (5), grandmother of (9) , great grandmother of (25), great great grandmother of (3) and a host of other children who call her Maw-Maw. Mrs. Ford was preceded in death by her maternal mother , Marjorie Jones Thompson, Gardner Ford Sr., father of her children and former spouse, her son's James Ray Ford Sr. and Kary Ameal Ford, her sister, Deloris Thompson , her brothers Stanley Bolten , Nelson Hines, Brewster Sansom, St. Anthony Raymond Bunch , and her grandsons , Fredrick Ford and Rodney Bythner . She leaves to mourn her passing, her sisters , Lorretta ( Sallie) Bunch, Selina Diana Bunch, Luberta Bunch, and Jeanette Magee all of Bogalusa , Louisiana, her daughter , Deborah Ann Ford Harris ( Victor) of Virginia, son Gardner Ford Jr. of Mississippi , son Larry Donnell Ford of Virginia, her daughter- in -law , Barbara Ford Henry of Mississippi , her heart and longtime caregiver/grandson, Melvin Quincy Ford of FL., Tony Anthony Bracey Jr. of NC ., Eric Kasean Bracey (Iyanla) of VA. , Cassey Byther of MS., Tamisha (Tersel) of MD., Latasha Louise Ford of TX. , Karen "Red " Dunson. Smith ( Chris ) of MS., LaKreisha Ford Johnson of MS., James Ray Ford Jr. of MS. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends and relatives .
