Mr. George R. Kelly Sr.

George Ray Kelly, Sr. was born on June 22, 1955, in Brandon, Mississippi. He was the second of five born to the late Doreatha Kelly. At an early age he received Christ at SandHill Missionary Baptist Church in Brandon, Mississippi under the leadership of Reverend Taylor.

George, Sr. was a graduate of Brandon High School. He later attended Truck Driving school and ended his working career as a Brick Mason. He was united in holy matrimony to Sandra Gowdy. To this union two children were born, George R. Kelly, Jr. and Shandria A. Kelly.

George, Sr. dedicated his life to the service of others. He sang as a member of N.C. Taylor Special, played baseball with his corporate team, but his greatest joys in life were his grandsons, Braeden and Carter Jefferson and beloved pet, Chewy.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ms. Doretha Kelly and sister Gwendolyn Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his memory: Sandra Kelly, (Dallas, Texas); son, George R. Kelly Jr. (Dallas, Texas); daughter, Shandria A. Kelly (Red Oak, Texas); two sisters, Carolyn Canty (David, Sr.) of Birmingham, Alabama and Elma Richard of Orange, Texas; brother, Ronnie Kelly of Jackson, Mississippi; two grandsons, Braeden and Carter Jefferson; god-daughter, Sonya Oatis; bonus sisters, Elaine Kelly of Pearl, Mississippi and Rochelle Dobson of New Orleans, Louisiana; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and an abundance of friends.
