Mr. Jimmie "Rack House" Brown In the quietness of a Mississippi morning, as the dawn brushed the horizon and the setting of the sun, Jimmie "The Maverick Mechanic" Brown parked his earthly chassis for the last time on March 7, 2024, at the Baptist Medical Center at 6:08 pm in Jackson, Mississippi.

He was the second of ten children, and began his life when summer kissed the world on June 11, 1942, to the late John H. Brown and Willie Mae Brown Carney in Hinds County, Mississippi. At an early age, he was baptized at Saint Paul United Methodist Church.

Jimmie Brown was filled with laughter and a great craftsman of friendship, who navigated the byways of existence with a wrench in his hand and humor on his lips. He was a poet of the pistons of a car, a whisperer of engines by trade, and his hands spoke the language of repair, revival peace, and unconditional love. His early years were spent at Pilgrim Rest Elementary School, in Hinds County, Mississippi, which led him on to the ninth grade at Sumner Hill High School, where the prologue of his story was penned without the flourish of higher academia, but with the rich ink of experiences of life such as hunting, fishing, and the ballistic grace of billiard balls in eternal orbit on the felt universe of a pool table, and his
love for beauty in the eyes of others.

A lineage of stars blinked out before him-his parents, John H. and Willie Mae Brown Carney, his paternal and maternal grandparents, John Brown and Sylvia Garner, Mitchell Humphrey and Ada Arleaver Humphrey, his two sisters, Mary Francis Davis and Doris Robinson, two of his nephews Jason Brown and Johnny Ray Patton, three of his nieces Wanda Brown, Victoria Patton, and Michelle Brown- Simpson, and one of his children -Keith Wells, and all other of his celestial loved ones, and now he joins their constellation.

What a momentous day in transition for Jimmie Brown , for he is resting from all his heavy labors and long suffering. He has" fought a good fight of faith" all the way to the very end of a full life. Jimmie Brown left to chart the course without him on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 6:08 pm at Baptist Medical Center, leaving to celebrate his home going: His sister Arleaver Patton (late George B. Patton, Jr.,) His brother Constable John W. Brown (Isdora Brown) his brother Howard Brown, his sister Catherine P. Early; his brother R.W. Carney, Jr (Debra Carney); his brother Edward Carney (Shirley Carney); his brother Eugene Carney, Jimmie Brown's daughter Taryn Brown with his first marriage; His two children- James Brown and Jennifer Brown and step-daughter Victoria Robinson (Bruce Robinson) with his second marriage; His two children – Zunkca D. Patterson, and Shenien P. Brown, and one step child-April P. Money( Robert Thomas Money III) by his third marriage and other known siblings; Michelle Williams, Teresa Catchings (Christopher C. Catchings), Ronnie W. Wells, Antwain D. Wells, Pharroh A. Brown (Kema Ridgeway), Courtney S. Garner (Red Nichols), and a host of other children and grandchildren and great grandchildren to cherish his loving memories. He also leaves to celebrate a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jimmie Brown lived a full life of love, humor, fun and laughter in the hearts of so many. Jimmie Brown's final curtain call will rise at Word and Worship Church, in Jackson, Mississippi not in somber tones but with the flourish of a life that refused to be anything but vivid. As the earth welcomes back one of its own, let the heavens prepare: there is a new star ascending, and he has a pocketful of stardust and a laugh that echoes through the cosmos. Rest on Jimmie !
