Obituary

Lucy Mae Spencer Johnson, age 67 died on May 21, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS.Service will be held Monday May 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Belmont MB Church in Raymond, MS.Visitation will be Sunday May 29, 2016 from 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Sister Lucy Mae Spencer-Johnson was born April 10, 1949 in Raymond, Mississippi to late late Mr. Eddie Freeman, Jr. and the late Mrs. Laura Spencer-Freeman.

Sister Lucy accepted Christ at an early age at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Learned, Mississippi.She received her early education from Carver Middle School in Raymond, Mississippi and Hinds A.H.S. in Utica, Mississippi.She later attended Hinds Junior College in Raymond, Mississippi.

She was married in August of 1978 to Bobby Joe Johnson, and to this union, two daughters were born - Kristi Renae Johnson and Chara Yvette Johnson.

Sister Lucy later joined Hamilton Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Raymond, Mississippi, under the leadership of Pastor Robert Patton, and served as a faithful and dedicated member until her health failed.While at"The Grove," she was an active member of the Golden Girls Choir.She also served as president of the Usher Ministry, as well as the Sister-2-Sister Ministry.Anyone who knew Sister Lucy knew that she loved to cook and loved to share her cooking with others.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, Ethel Lee Martin, Eddie Spencer, II, Sammy Lee Spencer, Eula Singleton and R.B. Irving.

She leaves to cherish her memories:two daughters, Kristie Renae Johnson and Chara Yvette Johnson, eight siblings, Charles (Carolyn) Spencer, Katherine (Clarence) Kent, Viereather Kent, Bessie (James) Banger, Eddie (Lynn) Freeman, III, all of Raymond, Mississippi, Shirley (E.L.) Ward, of Brandon, Mississippi, Ruby (Bernard) Terry, of Jackson, Mississippi, Lou Gene Freeman of Wiggins, Mississippi; two aunts, Betty (Herman) Davis of Raymond, Mississippi, Ernestine Young of Raymond, Mississippi; one uncle, Manuel (Leola) Coleman of Picayune, Mississippi; a loving Mother-in-law, Flora M. Johnson; a special friend Cornelius Singleton of Edwards, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
