Obituary

Ms. Marcella Harper Young,funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Morning Star Baptist Church, 3420 Albermarle Rd, Jackson, MS at 12 noon.Visitation will be Friday, July 6, 2018from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p. m. at Willis and Sons Funeral Home 5235 Robinson Rd Ext., Jackson MS. Interment: Autumn Woods Memorial Gardens,Jackson, MS.

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at St. Dominic Hospital, a sweet mother, loving sister, aunt, friend and neighbor was called home.

Marcella Harper Young was born to Stormy and Lorene Johnson on September 26, 1957, in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the youngest of two children born to this union. She accepted Christ at an early age. She joined Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. M.K. Nelson. She was preceded in death by: her father, her beloved Grandmother, Lola Slaughter; aunt, Evelyn Coleman; and nephew, Timvorres Harper.

Marcella was educated at Rowan Elementary School and was a 1975 graduate of Lanier High School. She furthered her education at Utica Junior College and Hinds Community College in general studies. She was employed with Allstate Insurance Company as a Data Entry Analyst, and AT&T (formerly Cingular Wireless) as a Retail Sales Consultant/ Manager until her retirement. For a number of years, she spent most of her time uplifting others, traveling and enjoying time with family and friends.

Marcella leaves to cherish her memories loving Mother, Lorene Harper Johnson, Madison, Mississippi; Children- Christel Young, Jackson, MS and Anthony Poe, Madison, MS; Brothers- Timothy Harper, Sr., Pascagoula, Mississippi and Michael Johnson, Jackson, Mississippi; Sister- Stephanie (Anthony) Johnson-Williams, Jackson, Mississippi; Grand Children- Kyle, Hailey, and Stormi Young, Jackson, Mississippi; Godson- Jamie Hathorn, Jackson, Mississippi; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many loyal friends.

Her beautiful spirit and warmth will long be remembered. She will always remain in the heats and minds of her family and friends.
