Mittie "Ann" Smith was born on February 23, 1959, to the late Robert Sidney "Jack" Smith and Arlene Smith. Early in her childhood, Ann and her siblings, Clemmetta Webb and Robert Sidney Smith, Jr., who preceded her in death, and her brother, Carl Smith (Mary), of Jackson, Mississippi, lost their mother Arlene. However, her father, Robert "Jack" remarried the late Flora Bell Smith, and together they joined their two families. Brothers, Curtis Rozell, Harold Rozell, Bobby Lindsey, Bernard Lindsey, and sisters, Charlene and the late Annette Lindsey completed their family.

Ann went on in her life and attended Edwards Attendance Center where she was a great student and enjoyed learning. As a child, Ann accepted Christ in her life and was baptized and maintained a close personal relationship with God. Later she attended Utica Junior College where she completed a degree in accounting.

In the next chapter in Mittie Ann's life, she discovered her passion in this life, which was to be a great mother. This passion blossomed in the eyes of her four devoted children, Tramone Derrell Smith (Tanya) of Byram, Mississippi, Markeisha Chantrice Smith (Dontonea) of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Terrence Markei Smith (Joelysa) of Terry, Mississippi and the baby of the family, Kamekia Yakanya Smith of Brookhaven, Mississippi. Ann was a loving and devoted mother and shared a deep connection with each one of her children. She found great joy and pride in each and every accomplishment. Her memory will be cherished and carried in the hearts of her family, friends and community, especially her joy, the light of her life, her grandchildren; Analeyah "NuNu" Palmer, Arterriyun "Bug" Palmer, Simone "Monee" Smith, Brandon "Brandon D" Smith, Akylee "Kylee Sue" Fuller, Journey "NiaJean" Hunter, Kaiden" KayD-Pop" Jones, one unborn grandchild whom she could not wait to meet, "Peanut" and Anthony "Main Main" Harris, Jr.; nephews, Marcus Webb, Cawone Webb, Sr., Martez Smith, DeJuan Smith, and Corey Lindsey, niece, Carneka Evans;
and a host of other relatives and friends,

However, God called Mittie Ann Smith home on November 5, 2022. Ann was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she closed her eyes and went home to heaven.
