Mr. Wilburn will be laid to rest Saturday, September 6, 2014 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church North in Jackson, MS.His services will begin at 2:00 p.m.Committal will be at Garden Memorial Cemetery in Jackson, MS.Visitation will befrom 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 (family present 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.).

Ogden Edward Wilburn, (affectionately known to everyone as "Big O"), a dedicated law enforcement officer, laid down his shield and went to rest with the Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2014.He was the second-born child of the late Ms. Willie Earl Wilburn, born August 28, 1963, in Yazoo County, Mississippi. He attended Yazoo County Public Schools, where he excelled both academically and athletically.He also attended Holmes Junior College and Jackson State University.

Ogden was first recruited by the Yazoo City Police Department and later graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy.This marked the beginning of a nearly 30 years career in law enforcement during which he served with the Flora Police Department, Hinds County Sheriff's Office, Simpson County Sheriff's Office, State Capital Police, Mississippi Baptist Health Services Security, and as a Director of Public Safety for the Mississippi State Fair Commission.Throughout his career he earned over 30 certifications in the field of Law Enforcement.

Ogden and his wife Barbara are members of the New Jerusalem Church family.He loved people and they loved him. While working with security for the Kroger Company, he witnessed a lot of excess food being disposed of that could be used to help those in need.It broke his heart to see people needing food and then witness food being thrown away.He met with the Mississippi Center of Police and Sheriffs, a non-profit organization about helping to develop a program that would benefit The Kroger Companyas well as the community.For more than 10 years Ogden and Barbara operated a food program where they went all over the metro area distributing food to the needy and the elderly.
Each Sunday morning started with 7:00 a.m. service at New Jerusalem and after service they headed to the Kroger Stores for pick up.Some days they distributed until late evenings.He loved God and loved to sing His praise.His favorite praise song was, "Bow Down And Worship Him".

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Barbara Wilburn; daughters, Nola Larry, Kiki Larry and Constance Chandler, all of Hinds County, Mississippi; granddaughter, Kristen Larry, Hinds County, Mississippi; sibling, Kevin Green, Louis Clifton, John Clifton and Ivera Clifton; step-siblings, Frank Clifton and Elaine Clifton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, all who will miss him dearly.
