Mrs. Patricia A. Singleton Mayes was born September 10, 1970, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, to Cornelius Singleton and the late Mary German-Singleton. On March 24, 2025, Patricia transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father. Patricia received Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi and was a faithful member of both the congregation and the choir. Patricia attended Hinds A.H.S. and is a member of the graduating class of 1988 and she furthered her education at Hinds Community College.
Later, she worked at Gulf States Canners for 12 years until she became ill. Patricia was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend and her memory serves as a reminder of the indomitable human spirit.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Mayes; mother, Mary German-Singleton; sister, Felisa Jefferson; and her grandparents, Madie Kelker German, James German, Alma Lee Jefferson, Jessie Mitchell, and PJ Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Patricia is survived by: her daughter, Ajah Singleton of Edwards, Mississippi; her father, Cornelius Singleton of Edwards, Mississippi; two sisters, LaTarsha (Lewis) Singleton-Fleming of Edwards, Mississippi and Jacqueline Lewis, of Jackson, Mississippi; nephews, Jayden Singleton, of Edwards, Mississippi, La'Morris Jefferson and Da'Morris Jefferson, both of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Freddie Hodge, of Jackson, Mississippi; nieces, Monica Wright of Edwards, Mississippi and Khadijah Lewis; and a host of family and friends.
Patricia did not allow her disabilities to prevent her from living to the best of her ability. She prioritized being active, family, friends and her faith. She was bright, affectionate and always had "I love you." on her lips. To know her is a blessing; and to be grieved is to be loved.
