Obituary
Pauline Quick Carroll, age 79, transitioned peacefully on December 10,2017 at her house in Edwards, Mississippi. Pauline was born August 31,1938, in Florence, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, J.C. and Lillie Quick; son, Leroy Carroll, Jr.; grandson, Phillip Carroll; brothers Johnny Lee Quick, Billy Joe Quick, L.J. Quick, Herman Quick, and Franklin R. Quick; sisters, Gracie Mae McGee, Roberta Costello, and Maggie Mayes.

Family and friends were Mama's passion and delight. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She was an advocate for education and insisted that ALL her children and any child that came in contact with give her 12 years of school and the rest was on them. Mama began most of her sentences with the preface " As the old saying goes, 'Every tub sits on its own bottom.'" The meaning, of course, is that people have to be responsible for themselves. There are certain matters about which we must be independent. There are some things that no one else can do for us. We must take care of our own matters.

Pauline was a member of Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Edwards, Mississippi.

Pauline is survived by: her daughters, Mary (Thomas) Tucker, Indianapolis, Indiana, Dorothy Thornton and Ethel Carroll, Edwards, Mississippi, Patricia Dix, Florence, Mississippi, and Debra Carroll, Indianapolis, Indiana; sons, Earl, Sr. (Malinda) Carroll, Bartow, Florida, Addison Carroll, Edwards, Mississippi; six grandchildren she reared as her own, Kimberly (Patrick) Mack, Jeffery (Marinita) Carroll, Edwards, Mississippi, Victoria and Jessica Harris, Jackson, Mississippi, Daron Hill Indianapolis, Inidana, and Alexia Carroll, Edwards, Mississippi; sister, Dolister Norwood and brother, John Robert Quick. Mama/Granny leaves three generations of grand and great-grandchildren to continue her legacy; and a number of other relatives and close friends to include the Bishop, Brookshire, Foster, Lane, Mosley, Richards, and Thompson families.
