Dear was an amazing women. She tended fields, planted flowers and food, made quilts, baked, made soap from scratch, made starch from flour and water (which her children said made the clothes very stiff), and could also make undergarments and beautiful dresses for her girls out of flour sacks.

Many of the events of Dear's life were also historic. She picked cotton, pulled corn, chopped wood, planted seeds for food, helped her husband raise chickens, goats, cows, and lorded hogs for wonderful port meat. They even had cats and dogs.

Dear has always been an amazing mother, wife, and citizen. She would offer anyone a kind word and especially words of wisdom. Her words were always a balm for her children, grandchildren, and who knew her.Her soul was one of peace and tranquility.

Dear and Dood were icons in the town of Edwards, MS.Belknap road has become synonymous with the life they lived.Pollard Rd (Pollyville) was filled with all that she birthed. Her legacy lives on through the many wonderful stories, memories, and love that she gave throughout her 101 years of living. She will be sorely missed.
