Reverend Percy Lee Evans,funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at County Line Missionary Baptist Church 1674 Kennebrew Rd, Jackson, MS at 11:00 a.m.Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2017from 1:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Willis and Sons Funeral Home 5235 Robinson Road Ext., Jackson MS. Interment at Autumn Woods Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Jackson, MS.

A Time To Be Born
ReverendPercy L. Evans Sr. was born March 10, 1927 in Bolton, Mississippi. He was the fifth child born to the late Percy and Ollie Mae Hill-Evans. Percy attended Hinds County Schools.

A Time To Work
Percy was a hard working man. He served in the United States Air Force in 1945. After his honorable discharge, he relocated to the Chicago-Milwaukee area. He was employed at A O Smith Electric, and was a city cab driver. He worked as a welder in Richmond, Virginia. He later retired from Ingalls Shipyard, after over 20 years of service. Upon his retirement from Ingalls, he worked for the Pascagoula-Gautier School District as a bus driver.

A Time To Love
In 1948 Percy united in matrimony to Bessie Lee Beauchamp and to this union ten children were born. After her death he was united to a beloved wife, Charlotte Evans, for forty years until her death.

Percy loved his fellow man. He enjoyed conversing over the telephone so much that, he would repair telephones and phone lines. He enjoyed sports; one of his favorites, baseball. Percy was a great humanitarian; he took great pride in serving the community.

A Time To Serve
Early in life Percy accepted Christ and Joined Halls Chapel Free Will Baptist in Bolton, Mississippi. Later he joined, Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Floral, Mississippi, where he became co-chairman of the deacon ministry. In 1980, he accepted the calling to ministry, and became a licensed minister at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Percy became an ordained preacher at New Era Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of H.L. Davis, where he was entrusted as an associate pastor. He also pastored at neighboring churches, New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Moss Point, Mississippi. He emerged as pastor of Greater St. Luke in Gautier, Mississippi, and served there until he resigned in 2009, due to health issues. He was also a member of the Second Christian Institute of Hinds, Madison and Adjoining Countries.

A Time To Die
On Tuesday, December 19, 2017, Percy completed his earthly journey at the Baptist Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

Percy was preceded in death by: his parents; wife Bessie Lee Beauchamp; four children, Paul, Keith, James and Cynthia; wife Charlotte Evans; two grandchildren, Joshua Hudson and AnthonyEvans; one great grandchild, Janyla Banks; and five siblings, Thelma, James and Thermon Evans, Vernestine Butler, and Ethel Mae Harris.
