Mr. Roosevelt Williams

Roosevelt Williams was born on November 16, 1970, in Jackson, Mississippi. Named in memory of his grandfather who passed in 1968, Roosevelt was an only child of his mother, Elinor Williams. Roosevelt grew up in the Tougaloo Community and surrounding area.
Affectionately known as "Joe" and "Joe Billy" by family and friends, Roosevelt received his education in the Madison and Jackson Public School Systems. Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.  During his illness he reaffirmed his belief and faith in Christ as he prepared for the time when God would call him from his earthly home. Roosevelt enjoyed the outdoors and being with family and friends. He often found work in landscaping – cutting grass, planting flowers and pruning trees.

In the early morning of Friday, January 31, 2025, Roosevelt was called to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elinor Williams, grandmother, Mrs. Bessie Williams; five uncles, Walter, Alex, Matthew, Boston and Thaddius Williams; four aunts, Rose Mary Traylor, Ethel Lee Minor, Daisy Robinson and Maria Williams; and cousins, Derrick, Larry, Johnnie, Dennis Robinson, Bonita Williams, and Sherman Minor.

He leaves to cherish his memory: a son, Curtis Love; a daughter, Alexis Gunn; one aunt, Charlene Williams; grandson, Curtis Love, Jr.; a dear and close friend Ben Mc Harris; and a host of cousins and friends. Roosevelt, aka "Joe Billy", will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
