Mr. Walter E. Baylis
Mr. Wa lter Earl Baylis transitioned from this life peacefully into the arms of our Jesus Christ at St. Dominic Hospital on Monday, December 9, 2024. Walter Earl Baylis was born on October 31, 1934, to Mitchell and Mattie Baylis in Oakville, Mississippi. Walter's parents, his wife, Lee Ethel Baylis, two sisters, Mary Golsby and Lydie Bell Baylis, one brother, James Willard, one daughter, Teresa Baylis, one great-granddaughter, Journee Baylis, one bonus sister, Emma Jean (Sidney) Mitchell, and one great niece, Phyllis Flowers, all preceded him in death.
Walter Baylis married Lee Ethel, on December 3, 1954. He was a faithful member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully a deacon, usher and choir member until his death failed him. He was employed with Harper Founders. Walter loved his family, and he loved the game of baseball. His two favorite teams were the LA Dodgers and the New York Yankees.
Walter
leaves behind to cherish his memories: one daughter, Sharen White; three sons, Milton (Pat) Baylis, Walter Carl (Ella)
Baylis and Jearld (Lucy) Baylis; five sisters, Annie Bell Hunt, Verta Baylis, Martha Baylis, Sharon Baylis and Linell Baylis; and a
host of grand and great-grandchildren, nieces, friends and other family members.
